If I were to describe my upbringing to being a young adult into adulthood type moments, I know it wouldn’t look like others. I’m an outsider. I used to think that was a bad thing. There are so many things that were framed to be weird and ‘other’. But actually they are the fascinating and unique things.
So what things make me 'other'?
I worked at a summer camp and interacted with youth with mental health issues far before I even knew what those issues actually were. I was drawn to travel and on the first chance possible went to the farthest place on the earth I could imagine: as a newly minted 18 year old I went to Papua New Guinea on a humanitarian trip to help with a linguistics team. These were just the beginning pieces. I took these interests and pursued a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
I took a position at an international school in South Korea. I met my (now) husband just prior to leaving the US at his sister’s wedding of all places. Do you believe in coincidences—I don’t. He was also headed to S. Korea. There we formed the strong foundations of our relationship. Fast forward—we now have three young adult children and have been married for over two decades. Along the way we have returned to S. Korea with our family, as well as living in the UK, Germany and several other US states.
Along the way I got a masters degree in social work and licensed as a clinical social worker. So what does this have to do with my business and what I love doing?
I’ve lived on three continents, seven countries, and nine US states
